Anime Scans and Doujinshi

10/29/02- Hello, and yes, I am finally really thinking of updating my anime pages. :) I *will* be trimming the site, but I'll try adding a few new things. And if you're wondering what happened to the Jubei-Chan pages that were found elsewhere on this site, they were accidentaly deleted. *gripes about stupid FTP server which jumped up and deleted NOT the file I had selected, but a large FOLDER two rows up from it...still don't know how that happened...>:O * I'll have to see if I have them saved anywhere.

12/17/01

Some perhaps not-so-great news...I need to cut back on my MB usage and I'll probably be deleting some of the files here. (Though I will add at least some new ones!) If there's a picture you absolutely love, you should download it now. (If you want to use one of these scans on your own website, please contact me and give me credit for scanning on your page.) I don't think there's a rush for me to delete anything yet, but you have been warned! /\_/\ (BTW- I'm not deleting anything on the doujinshi page.)

New as of 11/7/01- Not much new at the moment, sorry! But I did update some info- people have been emailing me and letting me know what certain things are. In addition- someone I know has a request...

They have an awesome 3D image of Kimba the White Lion and Leo, and would like to know if anyone out there can tell them something about it. Here is what they said:
"I have a 3D photo of Leo from 1956. Another friend tells me that the process for the 3D alone is obsolete. Is there anyway to check into this photo? ....this is not a postcard. This is much larger than that. Approx size without measuring probably 12" x 14....(it's put away right now) On the back of the frame was handwritten Bought Italy, 1956. On the back of the actual item it has:
Top left hand corner PKF-76 LION
Lower left hand corner Warning Keep Away from direct sunlight or excessive heat Toppan Printing Studio - AG, 3D-color Dept Zurich
Bottom Right hand corner -picture of a tiny face. ... I watched the only other one I know of go for a little over 100.00 on ebay and it wasn't near as nice as this one."

I don't know anything about what it is, but I'm very envious...:) Does anyone else know?

NEW! As of 6/06/01- Check out my doujinshi page! I've added Weib Kreuz, Utena, and Generator Gawl to my Inu Yasha scans!

Check out my anime cel page!

Here are some scans from various Japanese magazines like Animage and Animedia. These often contain beautiful little pieces of artwork that you can't find anywhere else and that can make it very difficult for an American like me to see most of them. I love finding stuff like this on the web, so I thought I would share some of what I've found with you.

NEW!

Looking for a job hasn't left me much time to add stuff here- but I found something just too cool NOT to share! Check out the Trigun section for pages from an article on Nightow's manga drawings- and a cool Vash poster!

6/11/01

I'm back and armed with anime! Watch out!/\_/\

Seriously, here are the latest scans: I got a Slayers Try book (finally!) and also finally found a Trigun Maximum book....I've been trying to save my money but this one popped up right in front of my nose for $10 so I couldn't resist....turns out (not suprisingly) I love Yasuhiro Nighthow's work! He has a wonderful use of graphic design in his work....I'm even more of a Trigun fan than ever, if that's possible...:) Wonderful art of Vash and Wolfwood in action...

Slayers

NEW

Slayers Try Book 3 cover.

This was really cool, and I didn't even see it until I had bought the book-

a Slayers Try mobile you can make

of Filia as a dragon which was under the dust jacket on the front and back cover! I love little things like this- you almost never see this kind of clever stuff in American books, etc.

Slayers Try Mobile continued on back cover.

Round Up the Kids, Buckeroo! It's Zelgadis on Stage!

Those endscreens (or whatever they're called that show up before/after commercials). Gotta love that Valgarv/Garv pic! *shudders*!:) And thanks to two people who emailed me about the same time, kyte marx and Killasandra, I know that the the blonde woman is the Lord of Nightmares, and the other guy is Dynast, (one of the Legendary Wise Men?) and an evil darklord person that was once a preist - like Rezo.

*SPOILER ALERT*- A page showing clips from one of my fav scenes. Heh heh...Hey, look!- Xellos has nostrils!

*SPOILER* for Valgarv's past...This is when I really started to feel for him- as did someone else in this pic...:)

Drawings of the cute fox Mom and Son as well as some landscape drawings.

Apparently these are the early concept sketches (?) for Valgarv! I'm sooo glad they went with him the way he looks in the anime!

Page 2 of the Valgarv sketches.

OLD

Slayers manga cover with Lina and Gourry- cute!

Inside color comic strip- wish I could read Japanese!

Another cute mini-poster of Lina and Gourry from the same manga volume.

Dragon magazine cover with Lina and a new series by the same creator, I believe.

Inside page of Lina and the new character.

Tenchi Muyo

Earlier clamshell editions of Tenchi Muyo came with posters and postcards. I was lucky enough to get three tapes with these inside. Here are some scans:

Character designs

More character designs from same page

And more....

...and More!

The other side of the poster showing pics of genga (cel drawings)

More genga.

More from the same page.

Two of the postcards.

Inu Yasha

I'm currently into this series (by Rumiko Takahashi- creator of Ranma 1/2) in a big way....and you'll notice I'm just a liiiitle biased towards Miroku scans.:)

A special Inu Yasha edition of Shonen Sunday featuring the stories where the first main characters were introduced.

I had been resisting, but I'm beginning to turn into one of those doggone (pun not intended:)) drooling Fluffy fans...Arrrgh! :) Fluffy:) and his brother- awesome (though small) poster inside the Special Edition.

Cute pic of Kagome from the other side of the poster.

Character profile of Miroku- large image.

From when Miroku first spots IY and Kagome- can you say evil laughter? Ok- not really...but he does have at least a cocky "heh heh heh" thing going...:)

And BTW- that's a Tanuki (sp?) with him- a raccoon dog, as we Americans would say (which is a species of wild dog that does look a lot like a raccoon)- NOT an American raccoon- like Viz translates it as....Ugh! Get your species right, people! *gets off soap box now....*

From later- IY and Kagome come running in to confront Miroku, and he hardly notices IY :) Click here.

Showdown between IY and Miroku!

More of the showdown between IY and Miroku!

And yet more- continuation of previous page.

Later- Miroku has to decide between helping some guy and a pretty girl. Gee...I wonder which one he'll pick?:)

Remember, these read from right to left. If you'd like to know what the heck they're saying, I recommend visiting this wonderful site. It has translations for all of the IY manga that's been published to date. An amazing amount of work! (In the US we're up to Volume 8- in Japan- they're up to Vol. 21!) BTW- the Miroku introduction occurs in the American Vol. 6, which I'm looking for right now. The English translation is sometimes different than the Japanese original- it's interesting getting both angles.

New! I got this doujinshi off of Yahoo Japan and I thought it wasn't yaoi- well, turns out I was wrong! *sweatdrops* But the art is good, so I'm keeping it- and here are some scans from it.....

The cover

Not sure- maybe Kagome is worried about the book becoming a Yaoi story?:)

I like the pic of Inu Yasha at the right....

Miroku- Boy, is he ever lecherous in this doujinshi! *sweatdrops again*

Sesshomaru's one appearance.

This one is funny- Miroku reasons that if Inu Yasha has dog ears, dog fangs, dog claws, might he not also have a dog tail?:)

Finally- Inu Yasha (instead of Kagome) caught taking a bath! And of course the ever-lecherous (especially in this doujinshi) Miroku is nearby...I do like the pic of Miroku here, though...

Jubei Chan

Nice full page pic of the Jubei-chan cast (great Koinsouke!)

Another great full page of Yagyu Jubei's two forms.

Jubei-chan page from Animedia- cute Bantaro!

Koinosuke does battle!!:) (Small piece from a fanart page- unknown fan artist).

Final Fantasy

I also collect doujinshi (Japanese comics made by fans of an anime series). Here's a few scans from one:

Cover of Dona Dona, a Final Fantasy 7 doujinshi.

Back cover- cute Vincent Valentine!

One of several humorous stories inside- Page One

Page Two

Dragonball Z

I got a really great, really funny DBZ doujinshi awhile back-I think it was called Zenkai Power 3, or something like that. Sadly, I have no idea where it is now. *cries!* I did, however, find some scans I had made awhile ago- so here they are, at least! Hopefully the real thing will pop up soon....

Bulma and Trunks- LOL stuff...:)Click here.

Vegeta and Trunks -LOL stuff again!:)- I think Vegeta's having an issue with Trunks' hair....Click here.

Vegeta and Trunks page 2Click here.

Vegeta and Trunks page 3Click here.

Another DBZ doujinshi called "The Story with the Moon". I dunno- this one must be done by Yaoi artists though it's not Yaoi itself- but it does have that angsty feel with the two main characters in each other's arms a lot...:D It seems like Trunks comes from the future at different times in his life and sees Piccolo instead of Goku...

Cover- the title is actually a nice foil.

Inside page spread.

It's Piccolo Ball!!!

Manga

Scan of the cover of a Dragonball Z Jump comic. (Cute Future Trunks, Bulma, and baby Trunks!)

Trigun

NEW- 7/18/01

It's funny how some of the best treasures turn up right under your nose. I had a bunch of Japanese "Comickers" magazines that someone had given me sitting on a shelf at work for the past nine months. I hadn't looked very carefully at most of them except to flip through them. Imagine my suprise when, as I was cleaning and putting these in order at home today, I flipped through an issue (Comickers 1997 #10) and there was an awesome Vash poster inside! I just about died!:) And to top it off, on the other side it showed how Nightow Yasuhiro worked, from start to finish! Aaaaa! I was happy, needless to say.:)

The cool Vash poster!

The other side- how Nightow colored the piece.

See Nightow's desk!

I love the artwork in this Trigun Maximum comic book I got. And it held a suprise under the dustjacket cover, just like my Slayers Try book did! Only this time it featured Alternate Cover Pictures- hilarious!/\_/\ See for yourself!

Rorouni Kenshin

I got another great book- I believe it's called Rorouni Kenshin Hiten or something like that. It's amazing how much they packed into this one little book! Tons of info (all in Japanese, of course, sigh......) and tons of pictures from the manga. I really recommend this book to big fans of RK.

The other side- more character sketches.

I also got a Miyazaki creation- themed cookbook with the magazine! (It's one of my fav faroku (extras) that I've received- even BEFORE I knew who Miyazaki was!) I'll scan some of it in at some point! It has Lupin 3, Panda ko Panda, Castle in the Sky, and more!
